Our Focus

RCI creates and facilitates critical centers of discourse among diverse stakeholders from across the political spectrum.

Work on Capitol Hill: In 2018, RCI facilitated the process that resulted in the creation of the House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, which is now institutionalized as the Modernization subcommittee in the House Administration Committee. More broadly, RCI continues to foster conversations among Members of Congress about the future of the institution.

Working Group on Congress: This group is led by RCI’s co-founder Bruce Patton and includes thought leaders, practitioners, and Members of Congress. These meetings aim to identify impactful and plausible potential reforms, then to promote close examination of detailed options for implementing such reforms.

Business Engagement: RCI is fostering deep dialogue among key business partners about the role of business in ensuring a healthy and resilient American democracy, and providing opportunities and support for partner-led action to build trust in elections and strengthen our governing institutions.

Trust in Institutions: RCI engages in a range of activities to strengthen relationships and information sharing among a cross-partisan network of leaders from critical constituencies or sectors (e.g., business, faith, military, labor, advocacy, philanthropy, etc.) with the capacity to reach a broad swath of the American electorate, with the goal of building trust in our institutions, including elections.

African American Faith Leaders: Through this initiative, RCI is building networks of trusted and influential leaders in the African American faith community who are connected to, inform, and participate in the larger movement to strengthen and build trust in American institutions.
